How To Burp Your Baby

When burping your baby, repeated gentle patting on your baby's back should do the trick - there's no need to pound hard on your baby's back. To prevent messy cleanups when your baby spits up or has a "wet burp," you might want to place a towel or bib under your baby's chin or on your shoulder.

There are 3 most common positions you can try, choose which you and baby like best:

  • Hold your baby sitting up, in your lap or across your knee. Support your baby's chest and head with one hand by cradling your baby's chin in the palm of your hand and resting the heel of your hand on your baby's chest (but be careful to grip your baby's chin - not throat). Use the other hand to pat your baby's back gently.
  • Lay your baby on your lap on his or her belly. Support your baby's head and make sure it's higher than his or her chest. Gently pat your baby's back.
  • Sit upright and hold your baby against your chest. Your baby's chin should rest on your shoulder as you support his or her head and back with one hand. With the other hand, gently pat your baby's back. Sitting in a rocking chair and gently rocking with your baby while you do this may also help.

Safety Tips For Babies

Newborn babies are so "fragile" so we have to be extra careful in handling our babies. Here are some safety tips that you might find helpful once you bring your baby home:
  • Use a crib with rails/bars spacing less than 2 3/8 inches with a firm mattress.
  • Be careful with suffocation and bed accidents, don't put baby to sleep in your bed or another child's bed. If needed, make sure you buffer baby's zone.
  • Do not put pillows, stuffed animals or toys in the crib.
  • Don't put baby down on a waterbed or soft pillow.
  • Put baby to sleep on his/her back.
  • Always put baby in car seat when riding in a car. Make sure it's rear facing placed on the back seat and make sure it is securely installed.
  • Never leave baby alone in the car even just for a few minutes.
  • Do not tie a pacifier or anything else around baby's neck to avoid choking.
  • Do not leave baby alone on sofa, changing table or other high places to avoid fall.
  • Never hit nor shake your baby.
  • Do not hold baby while cooking or drinking hot liquids.

Post Break: When He Grows Up

Babies grow up so fast so as early as now we are starting to think of our travel plans. We are actually excited with the thought of him growing traveling to places. Of course we already included every kids' fantasy world, the disneyland and also going back home to see my family and visit nice beaches there. We also want to bring baby to Ghibli Museum in Japan. So many places more that we want to go to but that will come when he grows up.

Having him exposed to nature and animals is one thing we want him to experience too so safaris and zoos will be great options. So far there are several places I know where there are good safaris to visit like Singapore, Indonesia, San Diego, Calatagan and of course Africa. Speaking of Africa the South side has good places and hotels to stay in. It would be nice to go have a dip in the ocean by the Cape Town waterfront hotels after a hot outdoors day. It's almost just as nice as the tropics with the lush greens, staying in Sun City hotels like the cabanas. Here perhaps some evening fun in the casinos can be a good side activity even just to try some slots and just to look around. Travels won't be complete without some sightseeing and music just like what Sandton hotels in Johannesburg can offer.

So many options and places to see and it will definitely take thorough planning before we get into any travels deals just yet but planning ahead can make a big difference =)

First Few Days With Baby

What moms need to know:
  • New moms need to learn how to: hold, feed, burp, bathe the baby, care for the baby's belly button, change diapers and care for the baby boy's penis after circumcision.
  • New babies can sleep 16-18hrs a day. They may wake often and then go back to sleep.
  • Babies may have hiccups or sneeze. This is normal due to their developing lungs and sneezing is a way of the baby to clear his/her nasal passage.
  • Babies cry to tell you they need something like if they are: hungry, tired and sleepy, needs diaper change, have gas pains, feels too hot or too cold or wants to be carried and rocked.
  • It's important to burp the baby after feeding. Burp baby =after every 1/2-1oz of formula or after each breast feeding.
It is very important for moms to spend quality time with their baby to create a mother-baby bonding. This way the mother can learn how to communicate with her baby and makes it easier for her to know what her baby tries to tell her. Expect sleepless nights at first since the baby is not adjusted yet to our usual day and night. Be patient and let baby feel your most loving care for him/her.

Post Break: Keep Fishing

I was so relieved when we got approved for baby's insurance and we need not to go through many troubles in getting it done. It feels so good that we know our baby has something to use and we can assure that everything will be good for him. But even after getting approved for that specific insurance provider, we are still fishing out and choosing for a better one. Who would not want to give the best for their child?

Same thing with insuring our baby's health and well-being, there's also the need to insure our baby's future by providing safe and protected housing and healthy foods on the table. Insurance Providence, RI has some practical insurances that we can opt to have at our current state. The Business Liability Providence, RI will be ideal for the home business that we're starting and for my freelancing business. Whereas Renters Insurance Providence, RI can be good to secure our assets while living in our current apartment.

Having A Baby

Having a baby is so challenging most especially being a first time mom. Everything brand new, totally an experience of a lifetime. Now my life is not just about me and my husband, we have a very important addition who needs so much love and care.

It's hard to be a mom because of the demands you need to fulfill for your baby but little by little things are getting better. I get to adjust now with baby and we understand each other more. Spending great quality private time with baby is a must, that helps a lot in building good communications between mommy and baby. Since daddy's always out to the office, I make sure to explain and tell baby where's daddy so he knows as early as now how things are. He will understand why mommy tends to him more than daddy.

Every mom and dad must have the patience to understand and know their babies sicne they communicate in different ways. Having deep connection is important, that builds a solid relationship between the child and the parents.

Post Break: Get Ready, Be Ready

In a place where insurance is not just a luxury but a necessity, it's a must to have one which can suit your needs. We will never know when we'll need it so it's just right to get ready and be ready for any circumstances. Just like having my insurance during my pregnancy, if not we could've been so broke with all the out of the pocket money we had to spend.

Having options like what Insurance Franklin, MA is offering both for auto and home insurance, looks like a good deal. Auto Insurance Franklin, MA & Homeowners Insurance Franklin, MA have good numbers. One thing to consider is the premium, if it's reasonable enough and will not compromise budget and spending.

The Final Moment

...my boy is finally out....

Labor and delivery went well for me having an epidural to ease and numb me from excruciating pain, by 6:47 I finally delivered my baby boy. It's been 2mos since I first held him wrapped in a baby blanket. Despite the pain from the fading anesthesia, having him right on my chest made me forget all about it. That's when i saw his first glance at me, heard his first cry. He was reacting to me, listening and communicating in his very own ways. I managed to smile even while being stitched and being overtired from the overnight labor. I have my baby in my arms, nothing beats that warm gentle feeling.

Post Break: Book Of Hope

Have you by any chance know about someone who's been in deep struggle fighting for his/her life? It's hard when sickness strikes and later on you'll just find out you only have few more days or months to live. Just Like Paul Kraus who fought for his life when he found out that he has Mesothelioma cancer. I honestly don't know about Mesothelioma until today.

Why did I title this post as "Book Of Hope"? It's because of the same person mentioned above who was diagnosed and survived through his dark times. For those who are hoping to see some light with their illness his book might be the answer.
